Poohead
This game uses a standard deck without Jokers, or two standard decks for more than 4 players. It is a luck-based card game with the potential to also deviously make the game very hard for your opponents.
Deal each player 3 cards face down in front of them. Then, deal each player 3 cards face up on top of their face down cards. These cards remain where they are. Finally, deal each player three cards to use as their starting hand. The player with the smallest card value goes first, playing that card first, with play proceeding clockwise.
On their turn, a player must play a card of a value equal to or higher in value than the card on just played, with Ace being the highest value. Players can play more than one card if they are they have multiple of the same value. If they have less than three cards in their hand after playing, they pick up cards from the deck to equal three again.
If a player doesn’t have a card they can play, then they pick up all the cards that have been played that round.
Play continues until there are no more cards to draw. Once this happens, players who play their whole hands start playing from their face up cards, and then from their face down cards. If they play something from the face down pile that doesn’t fit, that player picks up the play pile.
There are a number of power cards that can be played:
- 2 can be played on anything, and play continues as normal
- 10 can be played on anything, but the play pile is discarded from the game permanently. The next player can play anything they want
- 7 must be played in sequence, but the player after them then must play card less than 7 rather than above
- If four-of-a-kind is played, either by one player or in subsequent turns, the play pile is discarded permanently
The first player to get rid of all their cards wins. Play continues until only one player remains. The last player standing is the Poohead.
